CBD Boxes

Capsule and softgel boxes hold a rigid bottle that is already labelled, so the carton does the brand work. Gummy and edible cartons are sized to hold a pouch flat rather than to its loose maximum. Topical and cream boxes are squat and heavy for their size, and need a base that locks under load. Pre-roll multipacks need a fence or punch partition so the contents cannot roll into each other, and vape hardware - cartridges, disposables, tubes - needs a fitted insert or the device rattles inside the sleeve.

Display packaging matters more here than in most categories, because a large share of sales happen at a dispensary counter rather than off an open shelf. Counter units holding ten to twenty facings keep a flavour or strain range together at the point of decision.

Kraft dominates CBD because it reads as natural and unprocessed, which is exactly the positioning most of the category wants. The cost is colour: kraft is brown, so printed colours sit into the stock, whites need an underlayer, and photographic artwork loses contrast. Coated cardboard holds the design you approved. Two category-specific constraints shape the choice. Several states require that the product is not visible through the packaging, which removes die-cut windows from the options entirely - solid stock with a printed interior gives the box life when opened without exposing the contents on shelf. And mandated warning symbols usually need high contrast against their background, which a brown recycled stock works against. Artwork in this category gets sent back for one reason more than any other: the mandatory copy does not fit. Identity, net weight, suggested use, batch or lot number, a COA link, hemp source, an FDA disclaimer - all of it competing for a panel that may be 40mm across.

Decide early which panel is the compliance panel - usually the back, sometimes a full side - and treat it as reserved before the artwork is laid out. Move anything useful but not legally required to the interior, which is printed at no extra cost. For batch numbers, either print them in the run or leave a clear area for a sticker applied at fill; brands running several batches from one print order almost always choose the sticker.

Weight and format decide the structure. A straight tuck end suits light retail products and is the cheapest to produce. An auto-bottom base is worth the small premium once a filled jar passes about 100g, because a tuck bottom will eventually give under glass. A seal-end box is the most tamper-evident folding carton available, since both ends are glued and it has to be torn to open - relevant in age-restricted retail. A two-piece rigid box holds its shape better than any folding carton and is the usual choice for pre-roll multipacks and premium concentrate lines.

If a certified child-resistant closure is required, tell us at the quote stage. It is a mechanism rather than a finish: it changes the closure geometry and often the entire box style, so it cannot be added after artwork approval.
